Napa Valley and Redwood Grove from San Francisco
Description:
At the beginning of our tour, you will spend time in a stunning beautiful forest with clean air, see with your own eyes thousands of years of grandiose trees - the same age as civilizations. One hundred and fifty million years ago, all these trees were growing all over the continent. But early in the development of San Francisco, during the gold rush, it turned out that red shorewood, or sequoia, can act as a good building material. By the arrival of loggers in the 19th century, they occupied an area of 8,000 square kilometers. By the early 20th century, most of these forests had been cleared. One of the local businessmen William Kent and his wife Elizabeth, in their desire to preserve this natural wealth, bought a plot of land that was to be flooded during the construction of the dam. The hydraulic company sued Kent and then he found a way out - the businessman gave 119 hectares of land to the federal government. On January 9, 1908, President Theodore Roosevelt declared the land a national monument. And the name of the park owes a fighter for environmental protection John Muir: so bequeathed William Kent. Next we will go to the valley of the Napa River with its surprisingly mild climate. The valley is known all over the world for its vineyards. Great dry wine is produced here. We will definitely visit several wineries and taste different wine varieties, cheeses and pate.
