De Young Memorial Museum

50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr, San Francisco, CA 94118

About the company:

The de Young Museum is named after the famous journalist, director of the Associated Press in the XIX century and editor-in-chief of the San Francisco Chronicle. It is located in the Golden Gate Park of San Francisco, California, USA. The museum was opened in March 1895.

The old museum building was severely damaged by earthquakes and closed to the public. The modern building of the museum was built according to the project of the famous architectural company "Herzog and de Meron" in 2005. It is an elaborate combination of warm natural materials including copper, stone, wood and glass. Endless ribbons of windows help to erase the boundary between the interior of the museum and the lush nature of the park, and four entrances, located on different sides of the building, allow you to enter the building naturally from the park. The northeast corner of the building is crowned by a high tower, which offers a beautiful view of the bay and the city.

The museum is known for its collections of American art from the XVII to the XXI century, international contemporary art, as well as household items and costumes of the Pacific region and Africa. The institution is visited annually by more than 2 million people.
