Cableway Museum

1201 Mason St, San Francisco, USA

About the company:

The Cable Car Museum is a place that preserves the living history of San Francisco. The museum is located in the building of the existing cable depot, which became the heart of the city’s cable car network. Here you can look up close to the movement of the cable, as well as see several types of old cable cars, for example, the system that operated in 1870, and the first used tram cars.

The museum will be cut from two galleries of the cable depot. In addition to various exhibits and a souvenir shop, there is a historical photo gallery of the cable car in San Francisco.

Few inventions of the past remained workable and operational, and the cable car is one of the exceptions. The interweaving of ropes, like the tentacles of a giant octopus, pull their “prey” – people. The control center of this huge mechanism is located right here in the museum. In addition to the historical value, the spectacle delights with care for people, because the idea of building a cable car appeared after a passenger who did not stay on one of the steep climbs was crushed by a wagon.
