About the company:
The Menil Collection Museum is one of Houston’s many attractions. It contains the personal art collection of John de Menil and Dominique de Menil, heirs and former executives of the Schlumberger drilling company. Opened in 1987, it currently houses about 15,000 exhibits, including paintings, sculptures, engravings, drawings, photographs and rare books.
The oldest exhibits date from the middle of the twentieth century, the most popular of them are the works of René Magritte, Max Ernst and Man Ray. In 2009, the Menil Collection opened an extensive collection of contemporary art from Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol. In addition, the institution has a permanent exhibition of antiquities of Byzantine tribes.
The first floor of the Menil Collection Museum houses a library that is open to highly qualified researchers by appointment. There is also a bookstore where you can buy exclusive volumes. All Menil Collections are open to the public, and admission to the museum is free.
