Georgetown University

3700 O Street Northwest, Washington, USA

Description:

America’s oldest Catholic university was founded in 1769 by John Carroll. Until then, classes in Catholic schools were held illegally. The name of the university comes from the name of the district, which was an independent city until the second half of the 19th century.

The old buildings of the university are made in Romanesque and neo-Gothic styles. Educational buildings look noble and thorough and correspond to the popular idea of what should be large ancient universities. The school is now growing and expanding beyond the old campus.

Georgetown University is a private institution. It is one of the leading research universities in the world. Being a Catholic educational institution, the university, of course, has certain traditions, but in general it is open to dialogue and seeks to educate individuals with broad views.
