About the company:
The Smithsonian Institution, founded in 1846, is a renowned research and educational institution in the United States. It is the world’s largest collection of various exhibits, museum values and artifacts. Currently, the Smithsonian Institution is a complex of units, including 19 museums, a zoo, 9 research centers. In addition, another 156 museums are affiliated with the Institute.
The Smithsonian Institution owes its appearance to the English researcher James Smithson, who bequeathed most of his fortune to the United States. In the will, the United States was ranked second on the list after the only nephew. Without children, Smithson hoped that an institution would be created whose primary mission would be to develop and disseminate scientific knowledge.
As a result, on August 10, 1846, Congress signed an act creating the Smithsonian Institution, combining a museum, library, collections of historical objects and works of art. Today, the Smithsonian is an information center for everyone who visits the museum.
