Hissar fortress
Description:
Hissar Fortress in Tajikistan is one of the oldest and largest architectural monuments in the Central Asian region. For a long time, the building was used by the governor from the Bukhara emirate as a residence and military base of the country.
Today, the total area of this popular open-air museum exposition is just over 80 hectares, on which a pair of locally preserved cylindrical towers and structures are located next to the pointed-arched main gate. You can get to the fortress in the settlement of Gissar by taxi.
