About the company:
The National Museum of Antiquities of Tajikistan is in fact departmental, but thanks to the rich exposition it was given the status of national, which indicates its high status at the state level. It has several halls, each dedicated to a separate stage of development of the ancient peoples of Central Asia, inhabiting the territory of Tajikistan since the Bronze Age.
The museum is located in a two-storey building, near the Academy of Sciences and the National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan. The exposition includes valuable archaeological finds made by the Academy of Sciences. The most popular exhibit in the entire building is the statue of the Buddha in Nirvana, 12.85 meters long and weighing 5.5 tons, which is today considered the largest Buddhist monument in the world. Also very valuable elements of the exhibition are products of the Hellenistic era, masterpieces of Penjikent wall painting, brought from the temple of Ox.
The Museum of Antiquities of Tajikistan is open on weekdays from 9 am 5 pm, and on weekends until 4 pm. The museum is closed on Monday.
