Douz

Sahara

Description:

Um, tour. Although other than a trip, this tour is not called. It lasts 2 days and begins in the city of El Jem, it is there that the Amphitheater stands (yes, the Colosseum is in Rome, and everything else is the Amphitheatres, but this does not demean its dignity) The Amphitheater in the city of El Jem is designed for 35,000 people and at the moment, is a UNESCO heritage. It is one of the best preserved in the world, although under the Roman Empire it was the 3rd in importance, now the first in preservation. Here you can feel the roar of the crowd and look behind the scenes of the life of gladiators.

Next, we will go in the direction “to the sands” with lunch on the road and no big stops on “stretching your legs, seeing the bush and drinking local palm juice (cunning people Tunisians make moonshine from it...)

The next stop is the Traglodyte village. These are houses dug in the ground, and the Traglodytes (once a nomadic tribe) live there, they, like 1000 years ago, weave carpets, pray flour with millstones, but from these difficulties they are only more happy to guests in their house.

Further closer to the Sahara along the serpentine road, past walking camels and villages, more and more sand ...

We're coming to the town of Douz. Douz is the gate of the Sahara, the most extreme city before the great desert. Here we are sure to ride camels, and who wants to ride ATVs (quad bikes for an additional fee). Then we will stay at the hotel for the night, have a delicious dinner and drink tea, and in the morning we will go to conquer the Sahara again! Getting up and having breakfast in the morning, our way lies on the salt lake Shott el Jerid (the groundwater is very treacherous, not one caravan has disappeared there), where a magnificent dawn, then we will pass by date groves to the city of Nafta, there are still buildings for the film “Star Wars”, call this place – tattoo. And then we go to the waterfalls (yes, there are also oases and waterfalls in the Sahara), and on the way you can sometimes see mirages. The Grand Canyon (where the film Indiana Jones and occasionally Star Wars were shot) and you will see it. After lunch we will go to the hotel and by evening you will be there. Also along the way, we will meet unusual animals and the very first and mimish ones, this is a fox of desert-fenki (for an additional fee you will be allowed to take pictures with them).

This is one of the most unique travels that the world offers, these emotions you will carry through the years and it is this journey that will help you see a lot of new things and understand how interesting the world is. Most of the tour passes through the Atlas Mountains and is designed in such a way that it would not be in the open in the heat.
