Day of Social Worker of Ukraine

Social work is the art of making connections between people.
On the first Sunday of November in Ukraine, according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine of 13.04.1999 No. 374/99 celebrate the "Day of the Social Sphere Worker".
This holiday is evidence of the high appreciation of the state of the role of workers who daily ensure the implementation of state policy on social protection, employment, organization of remuneration and labor safety, labor relations.
The social worker has to face different spheres of life of the person and society: physical and mental health, personal and group conflicts, family planning, problems of employment, professional and social adaptation of different categories of the population, prevention of antisocial behavior, implementation of justice and many others. In the context of the inherent social dynamism of Ukraine, the problem of legal protection of each citizen, justification of the legal expediency of his household behavior, professional political and other activities becomes acute.
Social work is the art of making connections between people. “Social Worker’s Day” is a professional holiday that rightfully belongs to those who show mercy, creates good not only by official duty, but also by the command of conscience and the call of the soul.
Today, about 150,000 people work in the social sphere of Ukraine. They give people hope for the best and give a hand to those who need it. For many of them, the words of Ivan Franko – “A man’s life is valuable as long as he can help others” – became the meaning of life.
