They are designed to destroy manpower, tanks, artillery, enemy anti-tank weapons, aviation, air defense facilities and other important objects during combat.
Commander of the missile forces and artillery of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Lieutenant-General Vladimir Tereshchenko.
Missile troops and artillery are the main firepower in operations conducted by the Ground Forces with the use of conventional weapons, and perform up to 65-70% of the total volume of the mission from the fire defeat of the enemy.
In service with the formations, parts and subdivisions of RVIA are:
• missile systems of operational tactical and tactical missiles;
• multiple launch rocket systems of the "Smerch", "Hurricane", "Grad" type;
• self-propelled guns "Hyacinth", "Pion", "Acacia", "Carnation";
• anti-tank means "Sturm", "Contest", "Rapira".
Ukraine is interested in renewing the missile forces. The RVIA commander believes that it is important for Ukraine “to carry out a deep modernization that can bring artillery, missile and other weapons to the level of the world and can be considered a fundamentally new weapon.” The basis for the creation of “deterrence weapons” in Ukraine can be means of delivery with a range of 200 to 500 km and high-precision ammunition in non-nuclear equipment, along with missile weapons, attention should be paid to the development of means that use space-based elements in their composition.
The professional holiday of rocketeers and artillerymen is celebrated by officers, warrant officers, cadets, military servicemen under contract and conscription, defense industry workers, veterans of war, labor and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
