Day of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine

The activities of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine are organically connected with the history and fate of the state. The history of the creation of internal troops originates from the formation of law enforcement forces of the Russian Empire, which at that time included Ukraine.
In different periods, the military formations of law enforcement were called differently: military guards, local troops, convoy guards, internal and convoy guards and, ultimately, internal troops. Only one thing remained unchanged - the special character of the service.
The turbulent years of the Great Patriotic War, Afghanistan, Chernobyl, participation in the resolution of local conflicts - all these are pages of life of those who today bear the honorary title of veteran and those who perform the assigned tasks.
Since Ukraine gained independence, the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine have been carrying out important and responsible tasks to ensure the stable development of the country, peace and social order, play a significant role in protecting its internal security.
During the existence of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, 154 servicemen were awarded honors of the President of Ukraine. Of these, 27 received orders, 98 received medals, 29 received honorary titles. Three of the oldest formations of internal troops by the relevant decrees of the President of Ukraine for military merits during the Great Patriotic War, high achievements in service and combat activities in peacetime were awarded honorary titles.
