International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Description:

International Day of Persons with Disabilities
In 1992, the UN General Assembly declared December 3 to be “International Day of Persons with Disabilities”. The holding of this day in Ukraine is established by the Presidential Decree of 27.11.1993 No 566/93.

Of course, this day can not be called a holiday, but it emphasizes the need to achieve full equal rights of persons with disabilities and their participation in society. International Day of Persons with Disabilities is a day of summing up the results made for this category of citizens, analyzing the actual situation of people with special needs in society and determining plans to improve their living standards.

On October 6, 2005, the Law “On Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons in Ukraine” was adopted in Ukraine, which defined the basic principles of creating legal, socio-economic, organizational conditions for the functioning of the system of support for the physical, mental and social well-being of disabled persons.
