Monument to Bogdan Khmelnitsky
Description:
In 1987, a monument was opened near the ancient Castle Hill to the leader of the liberation war of the Ukrainian people with the centuries-old oppression of the royal pansko-noble Poland. In 1648, after a victorious battle over the Polish nobility near Yellow Waters and Korsun, the city of White Church became a regimental city. Bogdan Khmelnytsky arrived here and sent universals throughout Ukraine, in which he urged the Ukrainian people to rise to the liberation struggle. In 1654, on the Cathedral Square of the White Church (now Freedom Square), citizens swore allegiance to Russia.
