Toad monument

Berdyansk, Gorky Street

Description:

On October 17, 2007, a monument to the Ukrainian toad was opened in Berdyansk.

According to the management of the city hall of Berdyansk, a 250-pound sculpture made of bronze for the monument was cast at the local Yuzhgidromash plant.

A toad with 2 mobile phones, a pack of banknotes and a massive gold chain will sit on the heads of four people: a man, a woman, an old man and a child. It will serve as the personification of the phrase “toad presses” that has recently become relevant among representatives of all walks of life and all ages – i.e., it will be the personification of greed – a vice whose manifestations we would like to reduce in our lives.
