Karl Marx Avenue
prosp. Karla Marx, Dnipropetrovsk, Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukraine
Description:
Karl Marx Avenue is the central street in Dnepropetrovsk, both culturally and commercially. Its length is 5 kilometers. In the period 1834-1923 the prospectus was called Ekaterinsky.
The avenue is the oldest thoroughfare of the city, which began to form in the late 1780s. The idea of construction belongs to the architect I. E. Starov.
Most of the avenue is paved with paving stones. Along the street there are a lot of old buildings - a historical museum, city executive committee, the building of the Mining University, the building of the faculty of applied mathematics of the Dnipropetrovsk National University and many others. At the beginning of the street there is a monument of Glory, and at the end of the avenue there is a railway station Dnepropetrovsk-Glavny.
The avenue can compete with the best streets of the capitals of the world. Wide, with two ribbons of boulevards and rail lines of the tram, the avenue ends on the mountain with a huge Potemkinsky garden, which seems to hang on the banks of the Dnieper.
