Donetsk

Park of Slavic Culture and Writing

Ukraine, Donetsk region, Donetsk, Leninsky district, Kuibyshev street, 67

Description:

The Slavic Culture and Literature Park was opened in 2012 and is located on the territory belonging to the Metallurgists House of Culture.

The building itself was built in the 20 years of the formation of Soviet power, but during the Great Patriotic War it was destroyed. It was only restored in 1955. Unfortunately, during the years of stagnation, the house of culture was abandoned, but the employees of the metallurgical plant, as they could, preserved the building and kept it from destruction.

In 2008, the building was renovated, and in 2012 the Center for Slavic Culture was opened. The main purpose of the park is to preserve the traditions of the Ukrainian people, as well as to popularize cultural values among young people. Also on the territory of the park was erected a temple of Saints Peter and Fevronia, a monument to Cyril and Methodius.

At the burial place of Soviet prisoners of war, a sculptural composition “To the Victims of Fascism” was installed. There are many beautiful trees in the park, in the shade of which there are comfortable benches. There is also a children's playground "Fairytale Kingdom", as well as a playground for the youngest visitors.
