Square May Day
Ukraine, Donetsk region, Donetsk, Voroshilov district, Lenin Square
Description:
On the north side of the main Lenin Square in Donetsk, Ukraine, there is a small and cozy Pervomaisky Square. Previously, the square was called Senna, because it was the Hay Market.
After the House of Soviets was built on the square, it was called Soviet, then it became known as Central. And only in the middle of the XX century it received its current name Lenin Square, which is still today.
The main and main attraction of Pervomaisky Square is the sculptural composition “Youth”. This is a three-meter figure of a half-naked girl made of Carrara marble. On the pedestal of the sculpture are engraved lines from a poem by Vladimir Matvienko.
In 2008, a modern fountain was installed in the park with a Gorge for Lovers. With easy filing, the citizens of the square began to be called the Park of Lovers, which is now a favorite place for wedding photos of newlyweds.
During city festivities, shows, festivals, as well as concerts of local creative groups are organized on the territory of the square.
