Observation deck of military equipment in the Leninsky Komsomol Park in Donetsk
donetsk, Kyiv district, Lenin Komsomol Park.
Description:
The theme of the Great Patriotic War is devoted to the observation deck of military equipment in Donetsk. It is located in the Lenin Komsomol Park. It was opened in 2010. The observation deck includes three tanks of models T-34-76, T-34-85, T-54, as well as two anti-tank guns ZIS-2 and ZIS-3.
The history of tanks during the war is very interesting. The T-34-76 tank took part in the liberation of Stalino and was part of the 32nd Panzer Division, headed by F. A. Grinkevich. Having blown up on a mine (the tracks and engine compartment were damaged), the tank fell into disrepair. After the death of Grinkevich (1943), the tank took part in the transfer of the commander’s body to Stalino, and after that it was installed on his grave. Soon, the T-34-76 was replaced by a newer model T-34-85, and its new place of residence was the Donetsk Museum of Local History.
Already in 2010, the tank took place on the observation deck at the monument “Liberators of Donbass”.
The T-34-85 tank participated in battles in the Ukrainian SSR and foreign Europe. Donbass gave it to patrons. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Malyshev Transport Engineering Plant presented the T-54 tank to Donetsk.
Participants in the liberation of Donbass - anti-tank guns ZIS-2 and ZIS-3 also got to the observation deck from the territory of the local history museum.
