Monument to Nikolai Kutsenko

The monument to N.E. Kutsenko was installed on the site of his grave in the square of the mine "Lidievka". Kutsenko was a navigator of the 73rd Guards Air Regiment and died heroically in battle with German fighters. The captain's plane was shot down by opponents, he fell, drilling the ground up to two meters near the mines, which were under German occupation. Local residents tried to dig up the plane, but managed to keep only the tablet Kutsenko, which was secretly hidden from the Germans. The remains of the aircraft were discovered accidentally during construction work, the remains of the navigator were reburied on the Alley of Heroes. On his grave stands a stele-obelisk with a star. Previously, the monument was decorated with a model of the captain’s plane, but, unfortunately, it has not survived.
