Monument to Pushkin at the Drama Theatre

pushkin Boulevard, Donetsk, Donetsk region, Ukraine

Description:

The monument to Pushkin was opened on June 14, 1969 on Pushkin Boulevard near the Ukrainian Academic Music and Drama Theater of Donetsk.

The authors of the composition were architect Ya.I. Tomillo and sculptor N.A. Ginzburg.

The monument is not a monument in full growth, but a bronze bust, whose height is 1.2 meters. The creation of the bust was carried out by the brigade of the Rutchenkovsk Rudor Repair Plant. The monument was erected on a pedestal consisting of four rectangular blocks, which were lined with slabs of black granite.

In 2000, the pedestal was replaced by a column, and the facsimile of Pushkin was placed on the front side.

The opening of the sculpture was timed to important events – to the 170th anniversary of the poet’s birth and the 100th anniversary of the city. Currently, around the monument to Alexander Sergeyevich, a picturesque square is broken, creating a unique romantic atmosphere. At the sculpture, Pushkin is often held events that are timed to the Day of the Russian Language.
