Monument to the Mother Woman

In Donetsk there is a monument to a woman-mother, which is the only monument in Ukraine dedicated to the mother. The monument in the form of a woman with a child in her arms is located near the Donetsk Regional Center for Motherhood and Childhood Protection, its opening took place in 2003 and was timed to the Ukrainian Mother’s Day.

The sculpture with a height of two meters was made according to the sketch of N.V. Yasinenko by the Armenian sculptor Carlen Kalantaryan from sandstone.

The initiator of the monument was the head of the Donetsk regional center for the protection of motherhood and childhood, Professor D.M. V.K. Chaika, whose name is immortalized on the pedestal among the authors.
