Pylons of the Calmius Bridge

Ukraine, Donetsk, Ilyich Avenue, bridge over the Kalmius River

Description:

The pylons adorning the main city bridge across Kalmius in Donetsk are made with fragments of sculptures on the theme of liberation from the fascist-German invaders of Ukraine and the restoration of Donbass. They have lights that illuminate the bridge and have different figures. Ilyich Avenue passes along the bridge.

The spans of the bridge are fenced with decorative stylish iron railings. Pylons are made of granite, lampposts are made of cast iron. The main entrance lanterns are decorated with coats of arms of the Ukrainian SSR.

Bas-reliefs of pylons were developed by Moscow sculptors: L. Raizman, A. Postol, N. Pershudchev and N. Mukhtareva. Architect Yakovlev K.N. managed the construction of the project.
