ooh Zarechnaya, 3, Svyatogorsk, Donetsk region, Ukraine 84130

Description:

Svyatogorsk is the cradle of holy places. These include the church of the Monks Anthony and Theodosius, which is located underground, in a cave. The temple "native" from the XVII century. Previously, until 1844, no information about the shrine survived. There was only information about underground failures.

Already in 1844-1845, work was carried out on the reconstruction of the church. The monks of the Svyatogorsk monastery, clearing the cave, freed several more volumes. This allowed to separate the altar part and place the iconostasis.

After the completion of the work done, the temple was consecrated in honor of the Pechersk Monks Anthony and Theodosius. This event took place on August 30, 1846. In 1922, the monastery was closed, and a warehouse for storing vegetables was made from the church.

62 years later, in 1984, the Svyatogorsk Reserve took under its tutelage the church of the Monks Anthony and Theodosius. The temple was restored and the iconostasis installed at the expense of the reserve. Architecture was engaged in A. B. Dashevsky, and decoration - G. V. Zhukov, V. A. Telitschko.

The year 2000 was marked for the temple - it was transferred to the Holy Assumption Monastery. Active work on the improvement of the appearance of the church began: a fence was made and a bell tower was installed. The bell tower consisted of ten bells, the largest of which weighed 300 kg.
