In 1977, the People's Museum of History opened in the city of Yenakiyevo. Since 1979, it has been a department of the Local History Museum of Donetsk region. In 1992 it became an independent State Museum of History.
The expositions of the museum, named after Georgy Beregovoy, contain more than 15,000 exhibits housed in four halls. In addition, there is a unique collection, which was presented by archaeologist V. Klimenko. It includes vessels and tools of Babkin and catacomb culture, as well as incisors of the Paleolithic era from flint.
Tourists can see the materials of the Sarmatian and Scythian periods. There is also a separate exposition dedicated to V. Yanukovych, the President of Ukraine.
In 1993, a new hall called "Life" was opened, it features 200 exhibits. They relate to the life and activities of the Hero of the USSR - cosmonaut G. T. Beregovoy. Some exhibits were personally donated to the museum by the great cosmonaut and his family: suits, a military cloak, a set of food products, a water container, etc.
The building itself is made in a modern style. It has an unusual shape, a round threshold with a bright blue name and a finish of red and white composite.
