Local Lore Museum of Volodar District

Donetsk region, Volodarsky district, Volodarskoye, Pushkin Street, 98

About the company:

Local Lore Museum of Volodar district in pt. Volodarskoye is an exhibition complex consisting of four exhibition halls, an exhibition hall, an open-air museum and a memorial complex "Alley of Heroes" with busts of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Heroes of Socialist Labor, built relatively recently.

The museum fund has just over 9,000 exhibits, including archaeological finds, ethnographic materials, photographs, household items and numismatics. The main expositions of the museum acquaint visitors with the historical past of the region ("History of settlement and development of the Volodar region"), with its ancient history (archaeological finds of the late Paleolithic era, discovered on the site of ancient settlements of settlers on the banks of the Kalchik River), with geographical features, flora and fauna of the region (the Hall of Nature). This exposition is complemented by the bright diorama of the unique local reserve "Stone Graves", founded in 1927, which is part of the Ukrainian steppe nature reserve of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Of particular interest is a kind of hall of military glory - the exposition "Volodarsky district during the Great Patriotic War". Here are photos of that time, various military awards, rare documentary evidence, samples of weapons, frontline religions with special value. The main attention is paid to the layout of the interior of the dilapidated rural house. The emotional impact of this exhibition is aimed at the dramatic moment itself - a devastating and terrible war that suddenly burst into peaceful life.

Considerable attention is paid to the heroism of the inhabitants of the region, manifested in this difficult period of history.

The Museum History Hall introduces visitors to the best teachers, athletes, managers, cultural workers, milkmaids and farmers of the region - outstanding personalities and heroes of work.

On the site of the open-air museum, monuments of Polovtsian tribes are clearly presented - "Polovets women" and large-sized tools used in agriculture.

One of the priorities of the museum and its employees is the protection of numerous monuments of the history of culture and archaeology in the Volodar district. Much attention is paid to research and fund work aimed at preserving and developing the history and cultural heritage of the region.

It is worth noting that the Krevedic Museum of Volodavr district twice, in 2007 and 2009, was awarded the victory in the nomination "The best institution of culture of the Volodar district".
