People's Museum of the History of Bayan named after V. A. Barelyuk

Donetsk region, Shakhtersk, str. Krupskoy, 7a

About the company:

V.A. Barelyuk People’s Museum of Bayan History was opened at the Mining School of Arts in 1983. The uniqueness and unusual composition of the exposition of the museum lies not only in a special collection of musical instruments, but also in the creative approach of guides and museum staff to familiarizing visitors with the exposition. A story about a particular object of the collection is accompanied by a game on various harmonics. Only here, during one tour, visitors will hear “limes”, “Saratov” with bells, “shells” and, of course, a modern Bayan.

The exhibition fund of the museum can be considered unique and special. Here are carefully stored such rare exhibits as the concert harmonica of the late XIX century, harmonics-turtles, Saratov harmonics, harmonics, sawmills and rattles. A collection of rare scores, musical editions, methodical publications on the musical education of Bayanists, records, paintings and photographs of teachers and laureates of various competitions harmoniously complement the significant collection of Bayans, also presented in the museum.

Today, there are 86 Bayanas and harmonics of various models and styles, including rare samples. Antiquities lovers will appreciate the physharmony of the early XIX century and the sound of this phonograph.

The museum deservedly bears the title of people’s museum, and in 2009 it was recognized as the winner of the All-Ukrainian competition for the best public museum. Open to visitors from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 16.00. The weekend is Saturday, Sunday.
