Donetsk railway station

Donetsk railway station (Donetsk) is a station of Donetsk railway located in the city of Donetsk. The main railway station of Donetsk is located in the northern part of the city, in the Kiev district.

During the Great Patriotic War, the old station building was destroyed. In 1951, according to the project of the architect I.I. Vorontsov, a new station building was built. The building is monumental, has a traditional central axial scheme of spatial organization. The central place in the spatial organization is occupied by the lobby, which dominates the overall composition of the structure.

In connection with the 2012 European Football Championship in Donetsk, the station building has been reconstructed and expanded, and a new building of modern urban architecture has been added. On May 21, 2012, the new building was commissioned.
