per. Kravtsova, 15, Kharkiv, Kharkiv region, Ukraine

Description:

Kharkiv Planetarium is one of the most popular attractions of Kharkiv. It was opened in 1957 on the initiative of Nikolai Pavlovich Barabashov, an outstanding Soviet astronomer. Under the ball dome of the building was installed the first apparatus "Planetarium UP-4". From the first days of the Kharkiv Planetarium, age-different astronomical circles were created.

In 1970-1974, the reconstruction of the building was carried out, as a result of which the old dome with an 8-meter diameter was dismantled, and a new one with a 15-meter diameter was installed. Instead of the old apparatus "Small Zeiss" installed a new one called "Middle Zeiss".

Currently, the Kharkiv Planetarium has a Big Hall, a Small Hall, an Observatory, and a Museum of Space. In the latter there is a huge exposition dedicated to ufological research. It provides information about the messages of earthlings to other civilizations and anomalous zones of the planet. In 2011, the small star hall was equipped with a virtual telescope, and now visitors can even observe planets and stars during the day.
