Chuk Lam Temple

Kirghizskaya street, 19, Kharkiv, Kharkiv region, Ukraine

Description:

Chuk Lam Temple is one of the most unusual sights of Kharkiv. It was built in 2007 on the initiative of the city of Vietnam. It should be noted that this is the largest Buddhist temple complex in Europe, the area of which is a hectare. The full name of the building is “Chuk Lam Kharkiv”, from the Vietnamese language it is translated as “bamboo forest”.

Among the main attractions of the Chuk Lam complex are a luxurious pagoda 35 meters high, a 15-meter gate with an original ornament, as well as a bronze bell with which parishioners ward off evil spirits. There are also statues of various patrons of Vietnamese Buddhism, among which is the leader of socialist Vietnam Ho Chi Minh. To his image often put offerings - sausage, vodka and fake dollars. According to Vietnamese traditions, a person making such offerings will soon find fame and wealth.
