Victory Square

Mironositskaya street, 1, Kharkiv, Kharkiv region, Ukraine

Description:

Victory Square is a city square in Kharkiv, Ukraine. There is a square in the city center opposite the opera and ballet theater between the streets of Sovnarkomovskaya and Skrypnik, Chernyshevskaya and Sumy.

The square was founded in the spring of 1946 after the end of the Great Patriotic War by architects V.I. Korzh, A.M. Kasyanov and A.S. Mayak. Previously, there was a trolleybus depot on this site, and until the mid-1930s - the Myronositsk Church.

The laying of the square was made mainly not for public money, but on the enthusiasm of the citizens. Kharkiv residents voluntarily participated in the construction of the square in their free time, when the central part of the city at that time was a post-war ruin.

In 1947, a fountain-gazebo Glass jet was built in the park, which became one of the symbols of the city.
