Panteleimon Church
ooh Klochkovskaya 94, Kharkiv region, Ukraine
Description:
Panteleimonov Church is one of the bright architectural sights of Kharkov. It is a white and red cathedral with a bell tower, located in the lowlands, under the hill on which the university is now located. The temple was built in 1866 on the northern outskirts of the city, in the suburb, which was called Sands. The full name of the monastery is the church of Panteleimon the healer on the Sands.
In the courtyard of the temple there is a holy spring, and inside there is a cancer with the relics of St. Panteleimon, to which everyone who thirsts for healing is attached. Before the revolution, Panteleimonov Church operated the first school for the deaf and mute in Left-Bank Ukraine. In 1922 the temple was closed. After five years, it was revived, but later came to desolation. In 1989 it was returned to the Orthodox Church and restored.
The building of the Panteleimon church is a bright representative of classicism. It is crowned with three luxurious gilded domes. The facade of the building is represented by a number of arched spans, and the original exterior decoration gives the temple special rigor and elegance.
