Description:
The largest square of Ukraine is located in Kharkiv and bears the significant name Freedom Square. Here are always the main folk festivals on the New Year and Shrovet, concerts are constantly organized, rallies and fairs are held. From the square depart quarters in the form of three concentric rings separated by radial streets.
In the central part of the city is the Gosprom building, the first high-rise building of the country, built in 1925-1928. The remaining buildings on the square organically fit into a single ensemble of the oldest buildings in the country. The House of State Industry is a unique architectural and historical monument of Kharkiv. It is a group of buildings on an area of more than 11 thousand square meters. They are all connected by transitions at different levels. To the right of Gosprom is the building of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Founded in 1805, the University is the oldest higher education institution in Ukraine. Nearby is the hotel "Kharkov" and the building of the regional council of people's deputies.
