Medzhibozh castle
Medzhibozh Castle, Medzhibozh, Khmelnytsky region, Ukraine
Description:
Medzhibozhsky castle is a majestic fortress, the foundation of which dates from the XI-XIII century. The citadel was repeatedly destroyed in numerous wars and rebuilt, passing alternately as a spoil to the belligerents.
By the way, in this regard, the appearance of the citadel clearly observed architectural mix of styles, including elements of the oriental style, as for some time the fortress was under the rule of the Turks. In ancient times, the fortress occupied a strategic position, as it was originally located on the border of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and then the Polish Kingdom.
Now most of the magnificent architectural monument is under reconstruction, however, in the office premises there is a museum of local lore, the expositions of which are open to the public. Of great interest are also the castle church, barracks and the knight's tower.
