32034 Ukraine, Khmelnytsky region, Satanov settlement

Description:

In Khmelnytsky region, near the village of Satanov, on top of the mountain was built Svyatotroitsky monastery. According to some sources, the time of its creation is the eleventh century, but officially it was registered only in the XVI century.

Previously, the monastery was located in a cave, to which a wooden staircase leads. You can get to it from the ground building, through a special corridor. In the cave there is still a church and cells of monks.

Initially, all the buildings in the monastery were wooden, but in the XVII century stone buildings began to be erected. From the upper, ground, part of the monastery, only the Trinity Church has survived. In total, there were three monastic temples: Trinity, Pokrovsky and Nikolaevsky.

At one time, the monastery was occupied by Basilian monks who professed the Greek Catholic religion. At the end of the XIX century, the monastery became female, until today the tombs of nuns have been preserved.

An interesting, we can say divine fact, is that during the Great Patriotic War, a healing spring was hammered on the site of the monastery. It still attracts the attention of pilgrims.

In 1989, after the return of the monastery to the Orthodox Church, its restoration began.
