Ivano-Frankivsk

Sunday Cathedral

Description:

The former Jesuit church began to be built in 1720, but due to errors in the design, the building had to be completely dismantled and rebuilt. A model of the Austro-Bavarian architectural school with clear features of classicism. The tops of the towers are made in the style of Hutsul wooden architecture. In the interior there is a large five-tier iconostasis, made by famous Ukrainian artists A. Monastyrsky and M. Sosenko. Nearby there is a building of the former Jesuit monastery with a collegium, which now occupies a medical institute.
