Monument to Miscavige
Description:
The monument to A. Mickiewicz in Ivano-Frankivsk is one of two monuments to the outstanding Polish Pat, erected in Ukraine to the centenary of his birth (the second is in Lviv). Initially, the figure was carved from pink marble, had a height of 2.3 m. On the pedestal in Polish were engraved the words: "Adam Mickiewicz in the centenary of his birth - citizens of Stanislavov. 1898”. During the First World War, the monument was damaged. In 1930, a new figure was installed, this time cast in bronze. The Polish plaque was replaced by a new one: "Adam Mickiewicz, 1798-1855". In this form, the monument has survived to our days.
