Description:
The new fortress was built to strengthen the defense of the most dangerous western direction. The fortress was built according to modern requirements at that time, in the form of fortifications with the possibility of using long-range guns and cannons.
The new fortress has a system of casemates and underground passages, equipped with semi-bastions and moats for fighting artillery. It also has a larger area than the Old Fortress, which allows for large military garrisons. The width of the castle is 250 meters, the length is 220, the occupied area is three hectares. Today, most of the castle rooms are under the hills. But even a prominent part of the fortifications allows you to see the scale of the structure.
