Peter and Paul Church

d. Kamenets-Podilsky, st. Tatar, 9

Description:

Peter and Paul Church is one of the oldest in the city, although the exact date of construction is unknown, there is evidence of its existence in the XVI century. The church is the only surviving defensive-type temple in the city.

It is assumed that the church was built in the XIV-XV century. Throughout its history, it has repeatedly become a place of hostilities and was destroyed several times. During the fighting, the buildings lost their exterior decorations, and during the Turkish occupation the bell tower was destroyed.

The bell tower and church were restored and today are an architectural ensemble, including the cathedral itself, the bell tower, the Turkish minaret and the triumphal gate.
