The Old Fortress of Kamenets-Podilsky

Description:
The old fortress of Kamenets-Podilsky is a famous monument of Ukrainian architecture. During the reign of the princes Koriatovich there was a residence of the feudal lord. A strong protective knot on the approach to the city was built in the XVI century.
The castle, together with the protective buildings of the city, became the main forward post of the Lithuanian (1362-1434) and the Polish authorities in Podolia (1434-1793). The fortress played an important role in the defense of the city from the Turkish-Tatar army.
Inside the fortress you can find barracks and a siege well. The castle consists of 11 towers. The neighboring towers are connected by a defensive wall.
In the XVII century it was improved for more effective resistance to artillery fire. In one of the bastions there is a collection of light throwing weapons.
There are excursions in the old fortress. The castle is sometimes used for various festivals and filming.
