Gook Falls

Yaremche, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Ukraine

Description:

The waterfall "Guk", which is located in Yaremche, was named by local residents because of the noise that conveys to them this miracle of nature. By the way, in the Carpathians, almost every third waterfall is named by this name, because its noise spreads far beyond the location of the natural wonder. Hook is considered one of the largest waterfalls of the Carpathians.

The waterfall is located at an altitude of about 900 meters above sea level. It was formed in the post-war period as a result of severe flooding, which affected the entire region. The water here falls from a height of 15 meters, scattering drops on the nearby lush territories. Vegetation in these places is very rich and is represented by white resin, forget-memory swamp, Robertova geranium, urban gravilate, marsh belozer and other plants.

On the way to the waterfall you can meet the Carpathian squirrel, fox, spotted salamander and other Carpathian animals.
