Kiev TV Tower

10 Dorogozhytska st. Kiev Ukraine

Description:

The Kiev TV Tower, which is the second tallest in Europe (the tower height is 385 meters), is located in Kiev, near the Dorogozhychi metro station, and is the highest lattice structure in the world.

The TV tower is also known for the fact that it was built without the use of bolts and rivets, all its parts were connected exclusively by welding seams.

The unique tower was built in the period from 1968 to 1973 by the method of “growing up” – the top of the tower was created first, and then the lower parts were adjusted to it. All components were produced at the Babushkin plant.

Now the tower consists of the trunk of the tower, the lower and upper technical building, elevator shafts, television antenna trunks and has a mass of 2,700 tons, which is three times less than the weight of the Eiffel Tower.
