Moscow Bridge
Description:
The Moscow Bridge is one of the main bridges across the Dnieper, connecting two important transport points. The total length of the bridge is more than nine kilometers. Locals often call it the Road of Life for the opportunity to conveniently get from the bank of Desenka to the bank of the Dnieper.
The bridge was designed by engineers Georgy Fuchs, B. M. Greben, E. A. Levinsky, B. S. Romanenko, and the chief architect was Anatoly Dobrovolsky, who received an award from the Council of Ministers of the USSR for the development of his project. Near the left bank is the navigable part of the Moscow Bridge, blocked by a cable-stay system. The right part of the bridge is a flyover with spans, which is supported by a cable system.
At the top on the pylon of the bridge is an image of the coat of arms of the city of Kiev, on both sides of which is located on the balcony. At the stage of the project in this place was supposed to be a sculptural composition of princes Kia, Shchek, Khoriv and their sister Lybedy, standing in a painted boat. But in the end, she was placed in a park near the Paton Bridge, and the bridge crowned with a small coat of arms. It was planned to cover with gilding, but never implemented the idea.
