Saint-Introduction Monastery

Rybalskaya Street, 3, Kiev, 87, Ukraine

Description:

Saint-Vvedensky Monastery in Kiev is a unique monument of architecture and the cradle of Russian Orthodoxy. It was founded in 1877 on the donations of a rich widow Egorova, who submitted a petition to Metropolitan Philotheus of Kiev for the establishment of a women's Vvedensky community, which was later transformed into a women's monastery.

For many years, the building was abandoned, and only in 1992 the St. Vvedensky monastery was reborn after a long reconstruction. The elegant white facade of the temple with a massive green dome is made in neoclassical style with Baroque elements. The main building of the monastery is decorated with massive columns with stucco details, relief decoration and colorful mosaic images of saints.

The magnificent interior of the temple fascinates with its splendor. The surviving fragments were able to recreate the original painting of the XIX century, the lost compositions were replaced by new ones. In 1996, the temple was transformed into the Vvedensky Monastery. Many pilgrims come here to venerate the relics of Mother Dimitra and the miraculous icon “Ghost to humility”.
