Trinity Gate Church
Description:
The Trinity Gate Church is located in the capital of Ukraine, Kiev. It was built for two years by order of the grandson of Prince Svyatoslav Yaroslavich and was completely completed by 1108.
It is located above the Holy Gate - the main entrance to the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Made in the style of Kievan Rus, but after several restorations acquired the style of Ukrainian Baroque. The interior of the church is fascinating. Massive columns divide it into three naves. On the outside, the walls are painted with icons, as well as ornaments reminiscent of Ukrainian folklore. Particular attention is drawn to four frescoes, on the northern wall - "The Passage of the Righteous to Paradise", on the western wall - "Nikea Ecumenical Council", above the entrance to the temple - "The Expulsion of Merchants from the Temple" and on the southern wall - "The Baptism of Ethiopians by the Apostle Philip".
After the reconstruction, the dome was shortened and the interior decoration was replaced.
Today, the Trinity Gate Church is known for its picturesqueness, not many churches can see icons of such quality and colorfulness.
