Tereschenkovskaya Street

Ukraine, Kiev, Tereshchenkovskaya str

Description:

This small street in the Shevchenko district of Kiev is not by chance called the street of museums – so many sights, interesting buildings and monuments are located on its 630 meters.

The Museum of Russian Art is interesting for its rich collection of paintings. The museum has a monument to the artist Ilya Repin, whose paintings are also presented in the museum exposition. And in the courtyard of the museum there is a rare monument to Alexander II by Mark Antokolsky.

The most interesting exhibit of the museum of patrons of Khanenko is the sketch of Diego Velazquez to the portrait of Infanta Margarita, stored in the Spanish Prado Gallery.

In the museum-apartment of Pavlo Tychyna you can get acquainted with the life and work of this Ukrainian poet.

Almost the entire even side of the street is occupied by the Shevchenko Park. There is a legend that the idea to create a park on a wasteland near the university building belonged to the emperor of Brazil who came to Kiev in 1876. In the park you can admire unusual flower beds and a fountain in the form of the Black Sea. Not so long ago in the park erected a monument to “Grandma classic”. Here is the building of the first public toilet in Kiev, although this building is the same age as the park for more than a hundred years, it still functions.
