About the company:

House-Museum of T. G. Shevchenko, located in the capital of Ukraine, the city of Kiev. This is one of 3 Shevchenko museums in Kiev. The place reproduces the atmosphere of 1846-1847, while the author lived in Kiev, until his arrest.

The house is a rarity of the building of Kiev of the XIX century. It was built in 1835 and has been preserved to this day. This is the only way the house is unique. The street on which the author lived was called the Goat Swamp. Shevchenko settled here with the secretary of the college I. Zhitnitsky, the very educational institution in which the future Kobzar planned to enter.

After the arrest of Shevchenko, after some time, the house dilapidated, and he was given housing. But at the request of the artist V. Krichevsky, the house was restored. The artist himself was engaged in the design and project of the museum in the house. On November 10, 1928, the museum was opened. Further, until 1941, the museum was replenished with the works of Ukrainian artists. During the war, the museum suffered but was never destroyed.

The modern collection of the museum was developed in 1990, and does not contain excessive gloss, as well as ideological stamps that are associated with the person of Shevchenko. Near the museum is located the "Cherry Garden", the only garden of that time, which is preserved in the city center. In the house itself, some of the author’s exhibits are exhibited, as well as his workshop is recreated.
