Valley of dead excavators

pos. Pantayevka, Kirovograd region, Ukraine

Description:

Morozovsky quarry has long held the first place among the largest coal mines in Ukraine. Just a few years ago, work here was literally boiling - huge walking excavators shipped hundreds of KAMAZ coal every hour. After the quarry was closed, all equipment was abandoned, excavators gradually rust and are destroyed by scrap collectors. This is a real valley of dead iron monsters.

The Morozovsky mine was one of the few sources of brown coal mining, but after the financial crisis in 2009 it was closed, the equipment was useless, and the quarry was quickly filled with groundwater. In recent years, Morozovsky quarry is very popular among fans of industrial landscapes. The only problem is that every year the number of “exhibits” decreases.

The main attraction of the Morozovsky quarry is a giant rotary excavator, whose performance was 1600 cubic meters per hour, which is equivalent to almost two hundred KAMAZ. The unit was designed in 1970, its weight is 4 thousand tons. The remaining cars in the abandoned quarry are not inferior to this giant and amaze the imagination with their dimensions.
