Lviv

Benedictine church and monastery

Walking St., 3, Lviv, Lviv region, Ukraine

Description:

The Benedictine church and monastery in Lviv is an architectural complex built by architect Pavel Rimlyanin in the XVI century.

Fortified walls give the structure a pronounced defensive character. The buildings have repeatedly suffered from fires, and after the next restoration, unfortunately, lost their original appearance.

The stone church is a rectangular structure with one nave, which overlaps the cross vault with arcasole niches placed in the side walls. The facade of the church is decorated with white carved portals and a tower with a Doric frieze. Next to the church, cells were built that retained elements of Renaissance architecture.

Now the church is called "All Saints", and the monastery is dedicated to the Holy Intercession of the Sisters of Students.
