Krekhov village, Zholkovsky district, Lviv region, Ukraine

Description:

The Greek-Catholic Krekhov Monastery is located in the village of Krekhov, Zholkovo district, in the Lviv region of Ukraine, at the foot of Poboynaya Mountain. The monastery was founded in the XII century, its founders are considered immigrants from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Joel and Sylvester. Later, in the XVII century, the monastery was moved to the place where it is now, among the picturesque hills of Rostochia, covered with beech-pine forests.

The unique ensemble of the monastery includes the church of St. Nicholas, cells, a four-tiered bell tower with a baroque dome, outbuildings and ancient defensive walls with towers.

In the monastery garden, surrounded by a wall of the XVIII century, a beautiful alley of centuries-old lime trees has been preserved.

Near the monastery, a ritual Cross Road was restored, leading from the monastery walls to the top of the Pobojnaya mountain. To this day, the chapel of the Holy Sepulcher, built in 1938 by the architect I. Filevich, which ends the Cross Road, has been preserved.

Near the monastery there is a healing spring.
